Ukraine sees sharp increase in scrap metal exports

In January-February of this year, Ukrainian enterprises increased their exports of ferrous scrap metal by 1.55% compared to the same period last year, reaching 40.98 thousand tons from 40,354 tonnes. According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS) on Tuesday, 25,284 tonnes of scrap were exported in February, marking a 61% increase from the previous month's 15,696 tonnes.

In monetary terms, scrap metal exports for January-February decreased by 8.4% to $11.816 million from $12.903 million.

During this period, the majority of scrap metal exports were directed to Poland (93.24% of total value), Bulgaria (4.32%), and Germany (2.20%).

Over the first two months of the year, Ukraine imported three tonnes of scrap metal worth $1,000 from the British Virgin Islands, with deliveries occurring in January.
