Kryukiv's first dual voltage train begins test run

Обзоры по компаниям и отраслям 22.06.2012 Kryukiv Wagon (KVBZ UK) completed production of its first dual voltage train and commenced a testing program, the company announced yesterday. Ukrzaliznytsya said that according to a signed contract, the train will be delivered to its first customer in December. Dual-voltage locomotives are necessary in Ukraine due to the different parameters of power lines at railways (AC vs. DC) in different locations. Roman Dmytrenko: As we expected, Kryukiv is continuing to diversify its product portfolio, shifting to the high value-added passenger rail machinery segment, with its share more than doubling yoy to 10% of the company's estimated USD 844 mln revenues in 2012. An analog to the Hyundai Rotem model recently acquired by Ukrzaliznytsya, Kryukiv's train has a 29% lower price tag (USD 20.5 mln, net of VAT) and should challenge Hyundai's positions in Ukraine. Another boon for the company was the announcement of Ukrzaliznytsya’s plans to produce dual voltage locomotives jointly with Skoda Transportation, which would create additional demand for Kryukiv's locomotive-hauled passenger wagons.
