FX: Hryvnia stable, Russian ruble volatile

Макроэкономика 31.10.2014 Yesterday, as the hryvnia traded at the routinely controlled NBU weighted average rate of 12.95/USD on subdued volumes, the Russian ruble traded with extreme volatility as it closed up a significant 3.14% to the US dollar. The ruble started the day down more than 1% in early morning trading; by a central bank intervention. The ruble appreciated as a result of a forceful intervention of US dollar selling by the Russian central bank (earlier in the day) and by some unidentified market players (later in the day). This caused the hryvnia's real TWI to drop 1.03% for the day.
