Hryvnia down in nominal and TWI terms

Макроэкономика 05.12.2014 On Thursday, the hryvnia once again declined 0.75% guided by the NBU. At the FX auction held by NBU, the rate was determined at 15.2951/USD, 0.72% lower than the rate at the auction held a day earlier. Yesterday, in his annual address to lawmakers, the Russian president provided little confidence to investors about future prospects of the economy, and the ruble fell a massive 2.41% for the day. Also, yesterday the ECB decided to proceed without QE, possibly following the Bundesbank's objection. The euro rose 0.55% on the news. However, next year the Eurozone and ECB will have to deal with very low inflation and stagnant growth. Hence, a weak euro is anticipated. In real trade weighted terms, the hryvnia lost 0.18% yesterday.
