No results announced from Ukraine meeting with creditors

Макроэкономика 01.07.2015 A meeting to approve Ukraine’s debt operation that was held in Washington on June 30 between the representatives of the Ukrainian government, the creditors committee and the IMF brought no breakthrough in the process, as can be understood from the lean news flow. All the IMF offered to say was that it “encourages Ukraine and its creditors to continue efforts to reach agreement that meets financing and debt objectives,” as reported by the Bloomberg news agency. The creditors and Ukraine’s Finance Ministry did not provide comments on the meeting. Alexander Paraschiy: Ukraine’s Finance Ministry was actively commenting after the previous failed talks with creditors, complaining about the “non-constructive” position of the committee. In this sense, no news flow might be interpreted as a sign that parties were able to get closer to a solution yesterday. In any case, it’s too early to draw any conclusions on how the debt operation will conclude.
