Market comment

Обзоры рынка 17.09.2014 Ukrainian equities were a mixed bag on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The WIG Ukraine Index of Warsaw-traded stocks inched up 0.3%, fueled by sugar maker Astarta (AST PW +2.2%). All other movers went downward, led by the Index’s biggest component, grain trader and sunflower oil maker Kernel (KER PW -0.5%). Other decliners were coke producer Coal Energy (CLE PW -3.9%), car battery maker WESTA (WES PW -3.4%) and KSG Agro (KSG PW -3.3%). In London, the most actively traded Ukrainian stock, iron ore miner and pellet maker Ferrexpo (FXPO LN), rose 1.7%. Bank of Georgia (BGEO LN) jumped 3.9% while egg producer Avangardco (AVGR LI) dropped 3.4%. Investors went bottom-fishing at the Ukrainian Exchange (UX) Index of Kyiv-traded stocks, whose 2.5% increase was fueled by Yenakiyeve Steel (ENMZ UK +6.6%).
