Liquidity declines due to loan repayments

Обзор облигаций 21.01.2016 Banking sector liquidity declined UAH2.34bn to UAH118.78bn yesterday as banks' correspondent accounts with the NBU increased a slight UAH0.25bn to UAH41.28bn yesterday while total CDs outstanding fell UAH2.60bn to UAH77.50bn. Investment implications: Liquidity decline was caused by significant outflows from banks to the NBU, due to the following reasons. Ukrgasbank and Diamantbank repaid loans to the NBU of UAH1.32bn and UAH0.25bn, respectively. Also, the NBU sold US$40.8m of FX at the auction on Tuesday, absorbing an additional portion of local currency liquidity. In sum, outflows exceeded the decline in liquidity decline yesterday.
