Iran and Ukraine close to produce jointly An-148s

Обзоры по компаниям и отраслям 04.12.2012 The negotiations between Iran and Ukraine to launch joint production of Antonov’s An-148/158 passenger aircraft are in the final stage and the operational framework will be resolved by the year’s end, the Iranian ambassador to Ukraine said on Dec. 3 via FarsNews. The two nations signed a 20-year master contract in September 2011, which stipulates delivery of 16 An-158s to Iran, followed by assembly of another 64 aircraft on Iranian territory. Each An-148/158 is equipped with two D-436-148 engines and one auxiliary power unit AI-450-МS produced by Motor Sich (MSICH UK). Roman Dmytrenko: Production of each An-148/158 generates about USD 4.5 mln of revenue for Motor Sich from engine delivery and accounts for 0.5% of the company’s estimated 2012 sales. Both Russian VASO and Ukrainian Antonov produced only 4 An-148/158 aircraft this year, which is way below Motor Sich’s engine delivery capacity. In this respect, the establishment of a third manufacturer would significantly intensify An-148/158 production and drive demand for Motor Sich engines.
